Tests of Ammonia Chemistry Notes
Tests of Ammonia :
- Ammonia can easily be detected by its typical pungent smell.
- It converts moist red litmus into blue colour.
- It gives brown precipitate with Nessler’s reagent.
- It forms dark blue coloured complex, tetraamine cupric sulphate with copper sulphate solution
- With a drop of hydrochloric acid, ammonia produces dense white fumes of ammonium chloride.
- Ammonia gives a yellow precipitate with chloroplatinic acid.
