Isomerism in Haloalkanes and Hatoarenes Preparation and Properties
Haloalkanes show two types of isomerism:
→Chain IsomerIsm : The haloalkanes containing four or more carbon atoms exhibit chain isomerism in which the isomers differ in the chain of carbon atoms.
For example : C4H9 Br has three chain isomers as following:
→ Position IsomerIsm : The haloalkanes containing three or more carbon atoms can exhibit position isomerism in which the isomers have different positions of halogen atom.
