Isomerism in Amines Preparation and Properties

Isomerism in Amines Preparation and Properties

Amines show following type of isomerism :

→ Chain Isomerism : Aliphatic amines containing four or more than four atom of carbon show chain isomerism.

Example : Isomerism in C4H9NH2

Isomerism in Amines Preparation and Properties 1

→ Position Isomerism : Amines which have three or more than three carbon atom show position isomerism.

Example : Isomerism in C4H9NH2

Isomerism in Amines Preparation and Properties 2

→ FunctIonal IsomerIsm : Primary, secondary and tertiary amines having the same molecular formula show functional isomerism.

Example : Isomerism in C3H9N

Isomerism in Amines Preparation and Properties 3

→ Metamerlsm : Secondary and tertiary amines show metamerism. This is due to the difference in the nature of alkyl groups attached to the same functional group.
