Dinitrogen Chemistry Notes
Dinitrogen (N2) :
Introduction :
Nitrogen was discovered by Daniel Rutherford, the Scottish physicist in 1772. It is the first memeber of group – 15 It exists as a diatomic gas (N2) in the elemental state. Therefore, it is also called as dinitrogen. Lavoisier (1775) recognised nitrogen as an element. He called it azote (greek word meaning without life). The name nitrogen was given by Chappet (1828).
