Preparation Dinitrogen Chemistry Notes
Preparation Dinitrogen
Dinitrogen can be prepared by the following given methods
→ Laboratory Method : In laboratory, dinitrogen can be prepared by heating ammonium nitrite which can be prepared by heating aqueous solution containing equivalent amount of sodium nitrite and ammonium chloride.
→ By thermal Decomposition of Ammonium Dichromate : When ammonium dichromate is heated then dinitrogen is released.
→ By heating ammonia with cupric oxide When ammonia is heated with cupric oxide, which is an oxidising agent, then dinitrogen is evolved.
→ By heating ammonia with bleaching powder : On heating ammonia with bleaching powder, dinitrogen is released
→ Preparation of pure dinitrogen : Barium azide and soidum azide is thermally decomposed then very pure dinitrogen is prepared
→ By the action of nitrous acid on urea : Dinitrogen can be prepared by the action of nitrous acid on urea.
→ Commerical preparation Commercially dinitrogeri can be prepared from air by liquification and fractional distillation. When liquid air is distilled, dinitrogen having lower boiling point (77.2 K) distils first leaving behind liquid dioxygen (b.p. 90 K)
